‘SNL’ Parodies ‘Game of Thrones’ Author: I’m Out of Plot Ideas

Game of Thrones fans are well aware of the fact that George R.R. Martin — author of the books behind the HBO show — just can’t finish the last two novels in the series.

Ahead of Game of Thrones’ return to the small screen on Sunday night, Saturday Night Live explained why it’s taking Martin so long to wrap things up. Check out the clip, above, starting at the 1:40 mark.

“I’m burnt out — it’s just so vast,” Martin (played by cast member Bobby Moynihan) said on SNL‘s “Weekend Update” segment. “Do you have any idea how hard it is to name one thousand characters? … The same goes for the kingdom names. A lot of the next book just takes place in Denver.” Read more…

Lena Dunham Gets Biblical With ‘Girls’ Spoof on ‘SNL’

“Before there were girls, there was the first Girl.”

So begins the Girls parody to end all parodies, featuring Lena Dunham in all her hipster glory on Saturday Night Live. In the video, Dunham apes her own hit HBO comedy with a biblical spoof in which she stars as Eve, “a struggling twenty-something in the garden of Eden.”

The video was one of the highlights of Dunham’s first time hosting SNL this weekend. Dunham and other cast members also did a nice job riffing on ABC’s show Scandal

Dunham wasn’t the only actor to make an appearance on the latest SNL. Liam Neeson made a cameo during a cold open in which President Obama (played by cast member Jay Pharoah) gave an address on the international conflict in the Ukraine Read more…

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill Reenact ‘Titanic’ Scene on ‘SNL’

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill are bosom buddies — so much so that the two reenacted a classic scene from Titanic on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live

In his opening monologue, Hill — who was hosting SNL for the third time — mentioned his second Academy Award nomination for playing Donnie Azoff in The Wolf of Wall Street, but was soon bombarded by questions from “audience members” (played by SNL cast) about what it was like to work with costar DiCaprio

In the bit, Hill, eventually exasperated, said, “Leo wasn’t even supposed to be in the movie,” and that Wolf of Wall Street director Martin Scorsese didn’t know if DiCaprio could “handle” the role. That’s when the leading man himself walked on stage. Read more…

‘SNL’ Hilariously Spoofs ‘What Does the Fox Say?’

Saturday Night Live‘s latest digital short parodied viral video “The Fox,” but instead of spoofing animal sounds, it takes on the question “What Does My Girl Say?”

The video’s premise centers on SNL cast member Jay Pharoah playing a man who is caught texting another woman by his girlfriend (host Kerry Washington).

Sure, the plot is based on an overdone concept — the jealous girlfriend who goes through your phone — but it’s nearly impossible not to laugh, especially if you’re familiar with Norway-based band Ylvis’ absurd music video for the original song Read more…

No Girls Allowed: Bruce Willis Has Epic Boy Dance Party on ‘SNL’

When girls have a night out, it’s all about cosmopolitans and boy-talk (at least that’s what Sex and the City taught us). But when guys get together, it’s all about beer, nachos and football — or so the stereotype goes

However, Bruce Willis, who hosted this week’s Saturday Night Live, proved us all wrong by revealing what men truly do when ladies aren’t around: They dance!

This about sums it up: “In the olden days, the ladies stayed at home while the men went to work. But now it’s time for the ladies to get out, so the men can twerk.” Read more…

Oh, goody — Tina Fey is moving to Brooklyn

Ok, not really. But the actress parodied the Brooklyn-based HBO series Girls on Saturday Night Live this weekend, with hilarious results

Fey portrayed Blerta, an Albanian woman who begins rooming with the neurotic Hannah Horvath. Blerta’s — shall we say, unique — worldview provides a whole new perspective to the issues that the 20-something women in the show deal with
