Game of Thrones fans are well aware of the fact that George R.R. Martin — author of the books behind the HBO show — just can’t finish the last two novels in the series.
Ahead of Game of Thrones’ return to the small screen on Sunday night, Saturday Night Live explained why it’s taking Martin so long to wrap things up. Check out the clip, above, starting at the 1:40 mark.
“I’m burnt out — it’s just so vast,” Martin (played by cast member Bobby Moynihan) said on SNL‘s “Weekend Update” segment. “Do you have any idea how hard it is to name one thousand characters? … The same goes for the kingdom names. A lot of the next book just takes place in Denver.” Read more…
“Before there were girls, there was the first Girl.”
So begins the Girls parody to end all parodies, featuring Lena Dunham in all her hipster glory on Saturday Night Live. In the video, Dunham apes her own hit HBO comedy with a biblical spoof in which she stars as Eve, “a struggling twenty-something in the garden of Eden.”
The video was one of the highlights of Dunham’s first time hosting SNL this weekend. Dunham and other cast members also did a nice job riffing on ABC’s show Scandal
Dunham wasn’t the only actor to make an appearance on the latest SNL. Liam Neeson made a cameo during a cold open in which President Obama (played by cast member Jay Pharoah) gave an address on the international conflict in the Ukraine Read more…

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill are bosom buddies — so much so that the two reenacted a classic scene from Titanic on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live
In his opening monologue, Hill — who was hosting SNL for the third time — mentioned his second Academy Award nomination for playing Donnie Azoff in The Wolf of Wall Street, but was soon bombarded by questions from “audience members” (played by SNL cast) about what it was like to work with costar DiCaprio
In the bit, Hill, eventually exasperated, said, “Leo wasn’t even supposed to be in the movie,” and that Wolf of Wall Street director Martin Scorsese didn’t know if DiCaprio could “handle” the role. That’s when the leading man himself walked on stage. Read more…

Saturday Night Live‘s latest digital short parodied viral video “The Fox,” but instead of spoofing animal sounds, it takes on the question “What Does My Girl Say?”
The video’s premise centers on SNL cast member Jay Pharoah playing a man who is caught texting another woman by his girlfriend (host Kerry Washington).
Sure, the plot is based on an overdone concept — the jealous girlfriend who goes through your phone — but it’s nearly impossible not to laugh, especially if you’re familiar with Norway-based band Ylvis’ absurd music video for the original song Read more…
Amid controversy over the lack of diversity on Saturday Night Live, NBC has revealed Kerry Washington will host the show’s Nov. 2 episode
Washington stars in ABC’s political thriller Scandal. She recently vied for the outstanding lead actress in a drama series Emmy award — had she taken home the prize, she would have been the first African-American to win the category
SNL announced the news on Twitter, saying Eminem will also perform:
With much discussion around the sex and violence in Grand Theft Auto V, it doesn’t seem like a game that parents would get behind.
On this week’s Saturday Night Live, however, Pat Lynhart, a mother from Hartford, Conn., proves this assumption wrong….
